Sneak Preview!
Here is a sneaky peak at Calem's room. Mom and dad slaved all day Wed. to help me finish! I absolutely love it. It is so warm and cozy at night with the pine cone lamps and bright and inviting with the curtains open during the day! It is so adorable. Mom, dad, and I have a great dumpster diving story to tell. Driving around Wed. morning we were quite interested in what other people were throwing out (trash day). Well, we found this cute red picket fence section sitting in someone's garbage. Needless to say, we stopped, they made ME get out and snatch it and drive away. It looks so cute as the headboard for the twin bed. We had a hoot of a time dumpster diving that morning. I think it may be their new passion when they come to Houston. :)
Wonderful weekend...Wake up to reality!

Well, this is the last time my mommy will see me pregnant with Calem. We came to the realization that there is no way that she will be at the actual birth. After going to our last birthing class (mom and dad there) we realized that I will probably have a pretty short labor. That is if my labor goes anything like mom's and if my birthing coach is right about the last three couples she taught (they had a total of 3 hours in labor from beginning to end). So, I am going to call mom when I go into labor and she is going to catch the next flight out. She may make it in the next day or a couple of days later, but we know she won't be there.
Rob seems a bit anxious about taking on the job of my labor coach all by himself. He was stunned when we told him that mom wasn't going to be there. He immediately said, "how much will it cost to get Anna (our birthing coach) to come to the labor. After some deliberation on this subject, Rob and I feel that we are going to do this on our own. As privately as possible. We have agreed to call Anna if we feel we need some more support since she knows what we want in this birth. I was sad, but I feel empowered and excited about the labor day! I know I can do this and I can't wait to do it!
Calem is coming!

Yes he is! Calem is coming in about 4 weeks and 4 days he should be here...maybe earlier! That would be exciting. But, Murphy's law would have it that he arrives much later than his due date since I am already counting down the days. I am going to pretend that I am not ready for him and not prepared at home so that he comes early (according to Murphy's law).

Today was an extremely productive day in the Helmer family. After a sleepless night (for both Rob and I.....I think our bodies are preparing us in advance. We were wide awake at 3am), Rob left for work and I began the busy morning with Grandaddy Hutch and NaNa Rox. We sat and discussed life for about an hour over a nice cup of coffee (decaf for me). After that, we drove around the neighborhood and found many nice things in other people's garbage :)! Yes, we went dumpster diving. It was Rob's idea! He called us after he got to work and told us about a miniature basketball goal in somebody's trash. So, in route to the basketball goal, we saw many other things. After about 2 hours of dumpster diving, we drove home with a mini red picket fence we used as a headboard in Calem's room and a tricycle. FREE! This was way better than garage sale shopping. The high we got from digging in people's trash was way better than buying something for a quarter. So, stay tuned for pictures of Calem's room to see how the picket fence fits in.
Later, mom, dad and I worked hard to get everything in its place in preparation for our sweet bundle of joy. The room has come together very nicely. I really like the woodlands/hunting theme. Rob stained two birdhouses Olivia gave us and Dad put up the big stuff. Mom and I mainly bossed around Dad and Soon-to-be Dad and sucessfully finished before the birthing class at 6pm. Birthing class was interesting. Mom and Dad (Grandaddy and NaNa) were there and they got to see a couple of video clips of births. We discussed last minute concerns with our birthing coach and finished the last class. 5 more weeks! Can you believe it? No, neither can we. I am plan to enjoy everyday to its fullest. I love being pregnant, but I am so anxious to see Calem. Stay tuned for more pictures and blurbs from our corner of the world. Love and Take Care.

I woke up this morning with an overwhelming feeling of needing to be through with this pregnancy. After taking a walk in the somewhat brisk morning air, I decided, after talking with God that I can make it 6.5 more weeks. I have these feelings every once in a while. By no means am I uncomfortable or in pain, I am just anxious to meet Calem. I know that I need to take advantage of these next few weeks!
Been having Braxton Hicks contractions alot lately especially on the days that I take brisk walks. I love to tell Rob that I am having a contraction to freak him out. Do you think he will be able to labor with me at home until my contractions become regular? I have a feeling that the minute I tell him I am in real labor, he is going to rush me to the hospital. Oh mom, I hope you are here to calm his nerves!
Calem's room is coming together. I can't wait to hang some of the new items up on the wall and post a picture. We are doing a woodlands/hunting theme. We have tons of little bears, moose, deer and hunting woodland trinket things. I guess I am getting more into the whole decorating thing than I thought I would. Well, 4 more weeks of work left. I have one week off for spring break next week. I think I am going to use that week to pamper myself. I have scheduled a hair appointment, pedicure (I hope I don't get a staph infection....that stuff has been all over the news. I may bring some clorox wipes and wipe the spa before I dip my toes in.) and I think I am going to get a massage!
Oh how cute!

Calem will be one handsome little boy in his new house shoes. He will also be riding in style while mommy runs up and down the roads of Houston. We were blessed with many gifts from a jogging stroller, hand-made quilt, high chair, exersaucer, and some much needed things like bottles and pacifiers. Thank you to everyone who blessed us with your presence!
